Description In my contribution I will focus on the American occult rock band Coven which formulated in the late 1960s. I will focus on the analysis of the occult elements and the spiritual background with which this group operates. At the beginning, I will introduce members of this group and mention a few information about the formation of the group and its history. Then I will present all the albums that the group recorded, focus on its lyrics, visual and musical presentations, and interviews with group members. Futher, I will also shown how the group was perceived in the society. In the society, where the hippies resonated, and what kind of reaction it made with it. Lastly, I will focus to the subject of occultism that the group often uses in its work, and how the use of these elements is perceived by the group itself. Because of the use of occult discourse by Coven I will try to prove them as the predecessor of metal music, which began to form in the late 60s and 70s.
