Description | Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) subjects are usually not very popular among students, which can be caused by their high failure rate. These subjects are often perceived as too difficult and useless. Active learning, in which students are engaged with their learning through discussion, reflection or collaboration (as opposed to passive listening and notetaking) has proved to have significant potential for improving understanding and study outcomes in STEM disciplines. We try to integrate some elements of active learning to our subjects and this paper evaluates the effect of their application on study results in the course Statistics 2. |
