Description The capillary electrophoresis fontal analysis (CE-FA) was used to study the affinities between selected antidiabetic drugs (tolbutamide, chlorpropamide, acetohexamide, carbutamide) and human serum albumin (HSA). The binding constant (Kb) was measured under physiological conditions. The log Kb values obtained by means of CE-FA have a good repeatability. Apparent Kb values obtained using nonlinear regression decrease in the sequence acetohexamide > tolbutamide > chlorpropamide > carbutamide. The results provide a more quantitative picture of how these drugs bind with HSA and illustrate how CE FA can be used to examine relatively complex protein drug interactions.
