Description We have summarized bryofloristic data from peatland habitats of the Českomoravská vrchovina Highlands since 2000. The article covers a selection of regionally threatened, rare or otherwise important taxa bound to peatland biotopes from 126 visited localities. Of the 66 species of mosses and liverworts, 2 belong to nationally Critically Endangered species, 5 are listed among Endangered taxa, 6 are Vulnerable and 9 are Lower Risk species. 18 other taxa are listed in the national attention list, and 13 are considered regionally rare. All taxa are briefly commented with respect to their habitat requirements and distribution. Vegetation characteristics of the region’s peatland habitats are briefly outlined. We also tried to uncover the reasons for retreat of particular bryophytes and propose measures for protection of peatland habitats and their rare bryophytes.
