Description This paper focuses on the topic of information literacy education at universities in the Czech Republic, in the first part of the theoretical and research base in the second part of the educational activities in the context of the Information Education at Masaryk University (CEINVE). The author pays attention to the primary target group of doctoral students with the intention to highlight the need for a comprehensive and functional support information education contributing to the development of information literacy in a broader sense to optimize the academic competence of students. Theoretical background and arguments of educational activities are supported by the Research Center survey information education, focusing on the analysis of educational needs of students.
