Description Paper presents a quantitative research concerning various municipal demographic factors and their relationships with municipal solid waste generation. Analyzed factors consist of overall population size of the municipality, level of males and females among the population, level of registered unemployment, population age structure, ratios of flats to total houses, population density and municipality size. Created econometric model estimates coefficients and significance of examined factors regarding actual solid waste generation based on the data from selected sample of municipalities from the South Moravian Region in the Czech Republic. Finally, results of created model are compared with the related current municipal expenditures on solid waste in order to determine, which municipal demographic factors can be used for estimating expenditures in this area in cases with no available information on the generated amount of municipal solid waste.
