Description Brownfields constitute a significant obstacle for the development of municipalities. Their re-utilization is in the interest of the local administration and namely of citizens, who are directly affected by the existence of these brownfield lands. In order for brownfield remediation to be successful and to make the area part of the urban structure, it is necessary to identify the needs of the affected public. Structural EU funds provide financial options to draw financial funds for projects contributing to the harmonic development of municipalities. The utilization of funds should correspond to the sustainability and efficiency criteria. This paper deals with the motivation of investors who utilized funds for brownfield remediation or for the realization of concrete projects, considering the possible added value and involvement of the affected public in these projects.
