Description The level of education is one of the key factors for economic growth. This paper evaluates regional changes in the educational structure of the employed in the Czech Republic, especially during the first decade of the 21st century. These changes occurred in connection with the development of the unemployment rate at the regional level. Among others the correlation coefficient is used for evaluative purpose. The paper also uses several measures of variation (variation range, average deviation and coefficient of variation) to identify trends, respectively whether there is a convergence or divergence of regional differences in education and unemployment. The text is primarily based on data from the censuses and unemployment statistics published by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic.
