Description | The concept of variationality of nonholonomic systems in mechanics is introduced on the basis of the nonholonomic variational principle. Properties of nonholonomic variational systems subjected to general constraints are studied. It is proved that the constrained variationality is equivalent to the existence of a closed representative of the constrained mechanical system defined as a class of 2-forms directly related to the corresponding constraint equations of motion. An illustrative example is presented. |
