The project aims to identify, describe, and explain the response of Czech society in terms of
value changes to a series of pressing tensions and upheavals induced by nowadays social,
economic, environmental and geopolitical situations in light of the war in Ukraine at the borders
of the EU, the economic, energy and climate crises, as well as migration. We aim to gain a better both theoretically grounded and empirically supported understanding of the phenomenon
of value changes. A second aim will be to ensure the existence of the European Values Survey
time series, which enables us to understand the process of social, political and economic
transformation of Czech society through the prism of cultural (value) change. The next wave of
the EVS/WVS survey is planned for 2026 (financial support for data collection is part of this
proposal). These five unique data sets (1991-1999-2008-2017-2026) will allow us to interpret
value change not only from the Czech perspective but also within the European and world
contexts.
