The proposed project draws on the applicant‘s training and research in the field of health economics and policy. If funded, it would result in a new research program at Masaryk University, with the following focus areas: 1) The Economics of Aging (studying the healthcare and societal burden of disease, value of timely diagnosis and treatment of dementia and other conditions); 2) Estimating the Value of Healthcare Interventions (developing methodological and theoretical foundations for health technology assessment, including of high-value therapies, in the country), and 3) Data Analysis for Health Policy (building data analytic collaborations with the Institute of Health Information and Statistics of the Czech Republic (ÚZIS), the Czech Statistical Office, and others to inform public policy making in healthcare). The long-term goal is two-fold: 1) to build national capacity in health economics and policy research and 2) to develop a research team and institutional collaborations in support of future grant applications to the European Research Council (ERC).
