In the final stage of the Variscan orogeny, high-grade lower crustal and upper mantle rocks were exhumed and re-deposited in the Visean flysch basin. The project focuses on detailed study of selected crystalline rock types and typomorphic minerals in Visean siliciclastics (conglomerates and graywackes) at the eastern margin of the Bohemian Massif. These rocks include esp. granulites, durbachites, cordierite-bearing rocks and leucocratic granites. Comparative study of the collected material will b e undertaken. The relationship between the rocks and typomorphic minerals in pebbles, and the outcrop area will be followed, using also available published data. Significant results are expected because of the variable rock set to be studied and the mu ltidisciplinar approach applied - interplay of metamorphic and magmatic petrology, geothermobarometry, geochemistry, sedimentology, heavy fraction studies, cathodoluminiscence and electron microprobe studies, and geochronology. The aim of the project is
