Scholarship to support studies in doctoral degree programmes

Students of the full-time form of study in the standard length of studies receive a monthly scholarship to support studies in doctoral degree programme. The amount of the so-called regular scholarship is determined by the Rector's measure for the current calendar year. The Faculty of Economics and Administration grants an additional payment to the regular scholarship to support doctoral degree programme students. FEA MU Measure No. 1/2020 Scholarship programme for motivating full-time doctoral degree programme students sets out the conditions for its award. The system of awarding scholarships in full-time doctoral studies at the FEA MU therefore includes:

  • monthly amount of the regular scholarship (=scholarship to support studies in doctoral programmes)
  • monthly amount of the FEA additional payment for each years of full-time study in the standard length of studies
  • possibility of increasing the monthly additional payment to scholarship for above-standard results and approach (for more details see FEA MU Measure No. 1/2020)
  • possibility of reduction of the supplementary payment to scholarship in case of failure to fulfil obligations (for more details see FEA MU Measure No. 1/2020).

The amount of scholarships that full-time doctoral students can obtain, depending on compliance with the study conditions, is per semesters as follows:

Scholarship programmes for PhD students

In accordance with Article 3 (1) b) MU Scholarship and Bursary Regulations FEA MU announces following scholarship programmes:

Scholarship programme for the evaluation of publication results of PhD students
Purpose of the scholarship programme:

The purpose of the scholarship is to appreciate and support students who achieve high-quality publication results and thus contribute to increasing the scientific and research performance and prestige of the Faculty of Economics and Administration.

Duration of the scholarship programme:

The scholarship programme is announced from 1 May 2021 until revoked.

Funding source:

The source of funding is the scholarship fund of the Faculty. The scholarship award is decided by the Vice-Dean for Research.

Conditions for awarding scholarships:

The scholarship is awarded to students in the standard period of study of the doctoral study program at the Faculty of Economics and Administration, MU, for publications of the "article" type that are published (i.e. have an issue and page number or are published in advance online).

Application for scholarship:

The scholarship application is submitted by the author or the first author of the publication. The application for a scholarship is submitted electronically via IS MU in Document Office.

The application must be accompanied by:

  • A proof of a record of the publication in the MU IS (certifying that the publication was marked forsending to the RIV);
  • A copy of the published text of the publication, including a link to the source in which it was published (DOI or URL, or a link to the journal).
Scholarship amount:

The scholarship is a one-time payment and it is awarded depending on the amount of the author’s share calculated only from co-authors from MU.

Scholarship Programme to Support the Participation of PhD Students in Domestic Conferences and Summer Schools
Purpose of the scholarship programme:

The purpose of the scholarship programme is to support the active participation of PhD students at domestic scientific conferences and summer schools,

  • of domestic conferences of an international character and importance
  • of domestic conferences with a tradition and meaning in the given field
  • summer schools of relevant professional orientation, organized by renowned workplaces or associations.

The scholarship program does not apply to conferences organized by the FEA MU.

Duration of the scholarship program:

The scholarship program is announced from April 3, 2013 until the appeal.

Funding source:

The source of funding is the scholarship fund of the faculty.

Conditions for awarding scholarships:

The scholarship is designed for students of both full-time and part-time forms of PhD studies, in 1st, 2nd and 3rd semester of their studies.

The application for a scholarship is submitted electronically via IS MU in Document Office by the applicant = student. The application must include a cost calculation and must be accompanied by a statement from the supervisor. In the case of an application for participation in the summer school, it is necessary for the supervisor to specify the contribution and significance of the summer school for the applicant's study.

The application is submitted before the conference or the summer school, within a deadline so that it can be assesed by the vice-dean before the conference / summer school. The scholarship is paid after the conference / summer school on the basis of a written report. The payment of the scholarship is conditional upon submission of the report within 10 days after the end of the conference / summer school at Reserach and Projects Office (the form of the final report can be found here).

Scholarship amount:

The scholarship is granted as a contribution to the participation fee, travel and accommodation costs. The amount is based on the following rules:

  • the fee for the payment of the subscription fee is based on the participant fee
  • transport allowance to the venue of the conference and back corresponds to the price of the train ticket II. class or bus (back and forth)
  • the accommodation allowance corresponds to the actual cost of the accommodation but can be provided up to a maximum of CZK 1200 per night.

PhD Student International Mobility Scholarship Programme
Purpose of the scholarship programme:

The purpose of the scholarship programme is to support the active participation of PhD students at international conferences, summer schools, workshops, etc. The aim is to support in particular:

  • active participation in scientific conferences abroad
  • long-term or short-term internships at a partner institution abroad.
Duration of the scholarship programme:

The scholarship programme is announced for each academic year until the appeal.

Conditions for awarding scholarships:

The scholarship is intended for students of doctoral study programmess in full-time and part-time form of study, preferably in 1st, 2nd and 3rd semester of their studies.

Funding source:

The source of funding is the scholarship fund of the faculty.

Application for scholarship:

The application for a scholarship is submitted electronically via IS MU in Document Office by the applicant = student. Collection of applications is managed by the Research and Projects Office, collection is ongoing.

A compulsory part of the application is the written agreement of the supervisor, in which the supervisor specifies in particular the specific benefits of the given mobility for the applicant and his / her studies.

The scholarship award is decided by the Vice-Dean for Research.

After return it is necessary to deliver a final report.

Scholarship amount:

The scholarship is paid as a fixed sum, which serves as a contribution to the travel and accommodation costs, incl. possible conference fees. The total amount of the scholarship for the applicant is determined by the sum of the partial amounts, the amount of which depends on the following factors:

  • country of destination - the amount depends on which of the three categories of countries the student is leaving (categorization of countries I-III see Appendix 1);
  • the amount of the conference/summer school/etc. fee - the amount depends on the real amount of the action fee;
  • the expected length of stay abroad - the amount depends on the length of the stay and the country of destination and is paid either as a lump sum per month or a daily allowance (see Appendix 2 - categorization of countries A - C).

In justified and well-desirable cases, the Vice-dean accept application over the fixed amounts.
The student is required to submit a completed final report within 12 days of his / her return.

PhD Student Internship Abroad Scholarship Programme
Purpose of the scholarship programme:

The purpose of the scholarship programme is to support the participation of students of doctoral study programmes of the faculty in the short or long-term international internships at the universities / research institutes / other institutions engaged in research activities abroad, with the exception of Slovakia.

Duration of the scholarship program:

The scholarship programme is announced as of June 20, 2017 until appeal.

Funding source:

The source of funding is the scholarship fund of the faculty.

Conditions for awarding scholarships:

The scholarship is designed for students of both full-time and part-time forms of PhD Studies.

The application for a scholarship is submitted electronically via IS MU in Document Office by the applicant = student. Attachment is an internship plan containing a plan of activities and planned outcomes.

  • The application must include a calculation of costs and must be accompanied by a statement from the supervisor, in which he / she specifies his / her opinion on the plan and on the traineeship itself, the specific benefits of the student's placement and study.
  • The application shall be accompanied by an opinion of the head of doctoral study board.
  • The part of the application is also a confirmation of a Student´s Admission to an Internship Abroad of the chosen supervisor of the provider on the provision of professional guidance in the implementation of a internship (form here).

The application is submitted within two months from the date of the study visit.

After completing the internship, the student is required to submit the following documents confirming his / her participation:

1. Certificate of completion of the traineeship and the student's assessment by the person guaranteeing the course and quality of the traineeship on the part of the trainee provider within 14 days after returning from the placement (see the form here).

2. Final report on the traineeship with an evaluation of the plan of activities and planned outcomes signed by the supervisor within 14 days after returning from the placement (the form can be found here).

Scholarship amount:

The scholarship is paid as a fixed sum, which serves as a contribution to the payment of travel expenses, the cost of transporting by public transport, and the accommodation costs associated with the student's internship. The claim amount of the scholarship for the applicant is determined by the sum of the partial amounts according to letter. (a) and (b) as follows:

1. a one-off flat rate amount dependent on the category of destination country of the traineeship and is intended to cover the travel costs of the workplace of the trainee and re-
2. the fixed sum of the scholarship depends on the duration of the stay and the category of the destination country of the traineeship is calculated as a lump sum per month and is intended to cover reasonable subsistence costs.
