Combined Art Studies
Bachelor's degree in full-time or combined form. The language of instruction is Czech.
The programme can be studied as a single subject or in combination with another programme.
Submission deadline until midnight 28 February 2025.
What will you learn?
Programme of Combined Art Studies is suitable for students interested in art, who prefer to acquire knowledge in multiple subjects rather than specialise in one. The study is implemented either as full-time single-subject studies and/or double-subject ones and combined single-subject studies.
“Ars una, species mille.”
Studies lead students to understand the history and basics of methodology in four main areas - in the history of music, art, theatre and film. The bases of studies are taught in two-semester chapters in the history of music, visual arts, theatre and film, history of aesthetics and sociology of art. By completing these courses, a way of understanding the broader historical and methodological context and interdisciplinary relations opens for students.
Practical training
During the programme, students will attend two compulsory courses in a cultural institution in two weeks (80 hours in total) according to the offer of the lecturer, or according to their choice. This course aims to familiarise students with basic principles of the functioning of cultural institutions. The course takes place in the form of practical internships.
Thanks to the long-term cooperation with Brno museums and galleries, theatres, the Czech Television, the Czech Radio, the Brno Philharmonic, the Moravian Library and other organisations, students have the opportunity to participate in the preparation of exhibitions and accompanying events. They can take part in lecturing activities or documentation of collections in the Brno House of Arts, the Moravian Museum or the Moravian Gallery in Brno, to participate in the organisation, promotion and presentation of concerts, theatre performances and other cultural events. Within the framework of this compulsory internship, students will gain practical experience in the operation of cultural institutions from Brno and abroad, as well as valuable contacts for further study and work.

The test includes 20 questions about the following topics: history of music, art history, theatre, and film. The questions will test placing cultural eras, styles and movements into correct time periods, and also basic terminology and the most important personalities. The expected level of knowledge corresponds to the Recommended Literature section below.
