Description Aim: To find out whether there is a relation between a method of childbirth and child's later school welfare. Material and methods: The set covers the dates about all live births resulting from European Longitudinal Study of the Pregnancy and Childhood (ELSPAC). To the study, all children borned from 1. 3. 1991 – 30. 6. 1992 of mothers with their permanent address in Brno, were included. On the whole, it forms a research sample of 5549 children. The forceps delivery, primarily indicated Caesarian sectio and spontaneous delivery are analyzed. Statistical methods: Correlation coefficients Cramers's V, Kendall's tau, Kruskal's gamma and chí-square, too. It was elected non-parametric statistical methods because we want to ensure full validity of our results in situation, when the distribution of dates and frequence of responds in analyzed sets was very unevenly. Conclusion: The forceps delivery presents a larger jeopardy for child's future school results and overall content than Caesarian section. The lowest occurence of monitored schoul difficulties was observed in children delivered by spontaneous births.
