Description | The chapter is devoted to the question: Do frontline advisors to unemployed refuse any change in rigid manner or are they resistant against changes that jeopardize them? By presenting case studies of consultation groups from two selected organizations, the authors argue that frontline advisors express their position on change indirectly by assessing feasibility of respective change in their own terms and that they have been resistant towards changes disturbing their own concept of the advisor role. To understand strategies used by frontline advisors in responding to change, the authors propose to refer to the notion conception of problems and they define the following five dimensions that conception of problems consists in: list of problems, terms of change feasibility assessment, classification of problems in terms of their solution feasibility, reasons for modifying problems classification, and position on respective change. |
