Description | The article introduces a new WHO initiative, released under the name Nutrition-Friendly School Initiative (NFSI) in context with on-going interventional programmes which have already started. Nutrition-related and lifestyle-related diseases are significantly increasing in last decades and for this reason WHO promotes various programmes to improve health and nutritional habits of children. The NFSI based on the ideas of the Health Promoting Schools applies the concept of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative. The aims of the NFSI are to provide a framework for implementing programmes which can/could improve children lifestyle and the cooperation among schools, communities and stakeholders. Accreditation and periodical evaluations will provide the efficiency of the NFSI. |
