Description Computed tomography gives an accurate view of an actual situation at the area of a cleft. 3D reconstruction makes it possible to determine the extent of the malformation, to examine arrangement of soft and bone structures at the cleft area, to evaluate relative position, shape and number of teeth. We can also assess the state and the degree of resorption of a secondary bone graft, eventual pathological resorptions of teeth roots in irregularly arranged teeth. The examination results may affect the planning of orthodontic treatment, at the same time they provide valuable information to other specialists in a craniofacial (cleft) team. The aim of the work is to present benefits of a CT examination in the treatment planning of patients with a cleft.
