Description Osseous tissues due to peridontitis has prosthetic conseguences in older age. Lack of bone basis caused serious problems in prosthetic treatment especially of the maxilla. With regard to this fact, a strategically important surgical procedure is to be used to save the remaining alveolar ridge of the maxilla, when radical extraction therapy of periodontitis has been indicated. The authors call this process stabilisation of bone basis. They apply the method of non-traumatic extractions of the remaining maxillary teeth with augmentation of the alveoli. As an augmentation material they use collagen.hydroxy-apatite mixed with PRP plasma obtained centrifugally from venous blood of the patient before treatment. The augmentation material prevents to a certain degree further collapse of the remaining alveoli during the healing process. A relatively guick healing of the alveolar ridge of the maxilla treated in this way is a prereguisite to further prosthetic procedures such as a total replacement or implantological treatment.
