Description | Glycolurils are bicyclic heterocycles, which have found applications as building blocks of many supramolecular objects e.g., macrocyclic cucurbiturils. Our work deals with synthesis of glycoluril oligomers which resembles cucurbiturils. Usually such compounds are isolated from reaction mixture obtained by polycondensation of glycoluril and formaldehyde.1 Herein we report controlled synthesis and supramolecular behavior of glycoluril dimers with different sidewalls. These compounds were prepared from two building blocks. Controlled synthesis of other homologues is also discussed. During our work, selective method for the preparation of 1,6-disubstituted glycolurils was also developed. |
