Description | Humic substances (HS) are ubiquitous natural products of decomposition of dead organic matter. In our previous in vitro study, we have described interaction of HS with AhR5, which has been also confirmed in vivo6. In this contribution, we summarize our new findings on interaction of both AhR-active and -inactive HS with 2,3,7,8,-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD). We have observed decrease of TCDD-caused AhR-mediated effect at very high amounts of both TCDD and AhR-active HS. On the other hand, AhR-mediated effect was rather additive at lower concentrations of both TCDD and AhR-active HS. The possible mechanisms are discussed. |
