Description This report presents and summarizes results of the POPs ambient air monitoring in the Central and Eastern Europe in 2007. Data are derived from the model monitoring network based on the passive sampling technique. As previously indicated, capability of passive air samplers to provide information on the atmospheric contamination on the local and regional levels, namely on spatial and temporal trends in this contamination, was confirmed. Besides the regular background monitoring programs and the projects focused on evaluation of an impact of primary and secondary sources and the short- and long-range transport, PAS can be applied in the screening studies in the countries with lacking information on the atmospheric contamination, for evaluation of the impact of the natural or industrial disasters, remediation procedures, in various toxicological and epidemiological studies, for assessment of ecological and human risks, and for development and verification of various distribution, transport and fate models.
