Description This article presents a conception of new social risks developed first by Taylor Gooby (2004a, 2005) and by Armingeon and Bonoli (2006), as well as differences between old and new social risks and differences between old and new social risk policy. All these are discussed in the social-historical context of welfare state development and labour market changes in Western countries from World War II until the present day.
