| Description | Kyrill hurricane damaged large forest areas in Šumava Mts. in 2007 and endangered the recreational use of this territory. The large scale geospatial analysis of territorial distribution of wind throws and their relationships with area/canopy features was done using preliminary research hypotheses. Results show no relevant impact of separate individual landscape features of occurrence of windthrow damages, with exception of canopy and wind parameters. The integrated impact of all parameters was identified and risk areas mapped using GIS technology. Also the tourist routes damaged by wndthrows were detected and shown in digital maps. Risky objects and road/path sections were identified what represents a very valuable information for tourists and investors. |
