Description Optimal laser power density was found between 0.2 GW.cm-2 to 1.5 GW.cm-2. It is characteristic by the lowest RSD and the highest ICP MS signal. ICP MS signal is higher after ablation of gel, which was dried in the drier overnight than after ablation of gel, which was dried between cellophane foil. Background of 59Co signal is higher in the cellophane foil dried gel, but this gel showed easier handling in comparison with gel dried in drier. S/N ratio of LA-ICP-MS gel dried in the gel drier (6.41) is higher than in case of gel dried between cellophane foils (1.91).
