Description Extraction is used as a part of orthodontic treatment. It was first tool for correction of abnormal tooth position. Edward Angle advocated non-extraction philosophy. He believed that every person had potential for ideal relationship of all 32 natural teeth. Later, relaps after non-extraction orthodontic treatment was observed. Therefore Charles Tweed promoted extraction of four premolars. Results of him treatment was more stable. In the 1960s more than 60 % patients were treated with extraction. In further years it was emerged that premolar extraction does not guarantee stability of orthodontic treatment. Controversy over need for extraction persists. In orthodontics, the extraction provides space for alignment of crowded teeth or for reduction of tooth protrusion. At the same time extraction usually means loss of healthy tooth. Individual treatment possibilities must be precise consider in all cases. Symmetrical premolar extraction is the most frequent. Asymmetrical extraction is possible in asymmetrical cases. Extraction of mandibular incisor is alternative to premolar extraction. However lower incisor extraction has only several certain indications. We try to respect individual need of adult patients and we consider non-standard extraction methods. Presented case reports document above mentioned extraction treatment modalities.
