Description | Using in vitro bioassay, we have found significant AhR-mediated activities of four out of twelve HS tested6. Applied bioassay is based on H4IIE-luc cells (rat hepatoma) stably transfected with a luciferase reporter gene under the control of dioxin-responsive element. In recent contribution, we summarize our new findings on interaction of AhR-active HS, being partial agonists of AhR, with full agonists of AhR, e.g. 2,3,7,8-TCDD. General toxicological principles suggest that partial agonists should antagonize action of full agonists; nevertheless our results have shown more likely contradictory effect. Supposed environmental consequences of our findings will be discussed. |
