Description The text offers a potential approach to ideas of city planning from antiquity to the present (including Roman planning, the renaissance utopias of More and Capanella, the social utopia of Owen and the work of modern city planners), which are possible to find in the philosophical, urban and scientific tradition. This approach understands the thinking over city-space and city planning such as looking for controllable and governable environment, with no unexpected events and accidents. The end of the text deals with the avant-garde urbanism of the first half of the 20th century, especially in the Czech context of Zlín and socialist construction in the Ostrava region (with regard to the socialistit construction in general).
