Description In early medieval Bohemia coronations were closely connected with the representation of kingship in opposition to ducal ceremonies. The three first kings in history of the Czech lands had been first installed as dukes and only later were they made kings. This aspect determined unique nature of their coronations. They represented a shift in concepts of monarchic power. But even the circumstances of the coronations of their successors were specific. Nonetheless, all the Premyslid coronations were particularly connected with the issue of monarchic succession.
