Description Evaluation of effects of gravel pits in alluvial plains onto ground water. Numerical computer modeling was used to determine the changes in ground water levels up to 2 metres and flow directions resulting from mining activities. Modeling of changes of groundwater chemistry shows significant trend to precipitation of calcite, Fe(OH)3 and pyrolusite.
