| Description | The article examines the issues of social construction of identity and of its effects, based on the specific identity of "problem youth". The topic is dealt within a framework of labeling theory and it is based on qualitative research. The aim of the research is to represent this identity from the point of view of the "problem youth" themselves. First, the text deals with mechanisms of social constructions of deviant identities, including the identity of "problem youth". Second, the author examines this identity as viewed by the "problem youth". Third, the author describes some of the effects of this identity on the people labeled as "problem youth". |
