Description This paper deals with this topic and discusses merits of integration of language resources into the humanmachine interface. We concentrate on intelligent assistance of information retrieval but tackle also the contribution of elaborate language resources to other fields, e.g. text classification, spell-checking, automatic summarization, etc. We focus on improvements of the current application environments for most of computer users. Therefore, the large domain of automatic speech recognition and synthesis, which will surely play an essential role in the future machine interface, is intentionally left out in the following discussion.
