Keywords Prognosis of head and neck carcinoma - DNA content - Ki-67
Description The analysis was carried out with a set of 60 patients suffering from carcinoma of the pharynx and supraglottis treated at the Clinic of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery in Brno within 1991 - 1999. Besides routine examinations, flow cytometric analysis of DNA was performed and Ki-67 marker was established by means of immunohistochemistry. The evaluation of kinetic parameters of the cellular cycle has revealed quite clearly the significantly lower share of SPF in tumors with poor prognosis. Tumors with direct progression immediately after treatment have shown statistically significantly higher share of cells in G2/M phase.
