Description Tephrostratigraphy is an effective tool for correlations extending across various depositional environments or basins. Neogene (Eggenburgian, Ottnangian, Karpatian?, Lower and Middle Badenian) tephra have been studied within the sedimentary infill of several Neogene basins of Central Europe (Carpathian Foredeep, Molasse Zone, Flysch Zone, Vienna Basin, Styrian Basin and Polish Lowland).
