Description | Phytotoxicity of sulfuric acid, sulfates, iron(III) and arsenic(III,V) as the products of pyrite and arsenopyrite biodegradation was studied using Lactuca sativa root elongation and seed germination under acid pH. Ionic strength appeared to be an important inhibitory factor. Iron hydrolysis and solubility affected the fytotoxicity determination. These interference factors represent a general problem of toxicity testing in the case of some other heavy metals. |
