Citation
Description The author describes the context of the decision by the Roma to emigrate to seek asylum in the late 1990s, and brings forward facts that should prompt state intervention. The main causes of the Roma migration are identified as insufficient development opportunities for the Roma, their feeling of discrimination and their resistance of development strategies. The decision of some Roma to migrate and thus solve these problems was also stimuleted by racially motivated violence and a resulting feeling of vulnerability, as well as the existence of a migration model assisted by information and help channels within the Roma community.
