Description The formation, structure and stability of nucleic acid bases and nucleosides adlayers on the mercury electrode, carbon electrodes with mercury thin film (MFE) and on the Au(111) electrode was studied by capacitance-potential, current-potential and transient (C-t and j-t) measurements. The effect of pH, temperature, and ionic strength on the adsorption was investigated. Depending on the potential applied to the electrodes, cytidine forms highly ordered two dimensional (2-D) adlayers in the broad range of pH. These ordered states are displayed like capacitance pits on the C-E curve and sharp peaks on the cyclic voltammogram.
