Description At this work changes of methamphetamine intake in the model "i.v. self-administration" in rats after the pretreatment with the ligands of 5-HT1A receptor subtype with the agonistic (8-OH-DPAT) and antagonistic NAN-190)activity were evaluated. Furthermore, the influence of the above mentioned drugs on locomotor activity was tested in the "staircase test". 5-HT1A agonist 8-OH-DPAT caused non-significant (NS) increase of methamphetamine intake,5-HT1A antagonist NAN-190 had opposite effect (NS decrease of methamphetamine intake). In the "staircase test" both tested drugs dose dependently inhibited locomotion and exploratory behaviour. However, this effect was not observed in the model "i.v. self-administration"; even the total number of responses of rats treated with 5-HT1A ligands was higher than in the control group.
