Description Twenty psychiatric patients were investigated for their CYP2D6 genotype and phenotype. Eight patients were pretreated with CYP2D6 substrate drugs, another 12 were therapy free. Genotyping with PCR for mutations in exon 3, 4 and 5 of CYP2D6 gene detected 65% of patients as heterozygously mutated in exon 4. The phenotyping test showed a significantly higher occurence of poor metabolizers in patients pretreated with CYP2D6 substrate drugs that within those without previous therapy.
