Citation
Description The paper focuses on personal experience with using the generative artificial intelligence Midjourney in creating reconstructions depicting life in the past. The main motivation was the preparation of an exhibition for the 60th anniversary of archaeological research in Těšetice-Kyjovice and an effort to create visually engaging reconstructions that would suitably complement the accompanying text and correspond to current scientific knowledge. The goal was to present various aspects of prehistoric life to the general public in an attractive way. The paper will introduce the reason for choosing the AI Midjourney tool and the principle of working with it, which includes generating a basic scene, selecting a suitable composition, adjusting individual details, and finalizing the resulting image. The advantages and disadvantages of using AI Midjourney in creating archaeological reconstructions will be discussed, as well as the ethical aspects associated with the use of generative artificial intelligence in this context. The paper will offer a perspective on the potential of using modern technologies in the field of popularizing archaeology and conveying scientific knowledge to the general public. At the same time, it will open a discussion about the possibilities and limits of applying artificial intelligence in archaeological research and the presentation of its results.
