Description Dual education is a form of modern vocational training, through which the student learns how to transform theoretical knowledge into practice directly on the employer's premises. The aim of the paper is to evaluate dual education from the point of view of the availability of information about this form of education for students and to identify the barriers and positives of such education from the point of view of secondary vocational school teachers. For empirical research, we collected data through a questionnaire survey. Data collection was carried out between February and March 2019 at selected secondary vocational schools in Slovakia. The results of the survey showed that only 1/3 of students received information about the dual education system from study counsellors or teachers at elementary schools. Most teachers see shortcomings in the implementation of dual education in weak support from the state and demanding administration. On the contrary, the biggest positive of dual education is perceived by educators as an opportunity for achieving better professional competence of students.
