| Description | The chapter presents research dealing with linguistic accuracy of spoken French in an online university course and focusing on a possible impact of detailed reading on the development of this accuracy. A quantitative and qualitative analysis of errors was carried out to assess the development of students’ speaking with regard to accuracy and to identify the aspects of language particularly difficult for these students. Afterwards, concrete examples of expressions from the texts studied during the course were looked at to determine if these expressions are found in the spoken discourse of the students and if their use influences the linguistic accuracy of the language. The results underline the importance of focusing more on pronunciation in online French courses and they demonstrate that the development of spoken language cannot be considered just from a single aspect of accuracy. |
