Description One of the key populist attitudes is the belief in the corruption of mainstream elites. The chapter deals with the question of whether there is a discriminatory legalism at the core of this attitude (corruption of the meinstream is not tolerated, however corruption behavior of the populists themselves is). An analysis of Central-European populist and mainstream sympathizers shows that populist sympathizers are more critical of systemic (elite) corruption, but more tolerant of day-to-day corruption than mainstream parties sympathizers. This provides cautious support for further developing the discriminatory legalism thesis.
