Description The paper focuses on the research and evaluation of reactions to the topic of evolution in the mentioned period. This research focus is included in the context of the overall situation in science, philosophy, and ethics in Slovakia. Specifically, it is primarily a reflection of Darwin’s conception of the evolution of living nature and man. The text will try to evaluate the positive and negative responses to Darwinism in Slovakia. In addition, attention will be paid to some concepts that were not directly inspired by Darwin (Záborský, Maliarik). Nevertheless, even in them, we find an important motive for evolution in a unique form.
