Citation
Description The subject of the conference is the connection of metal music, occultism and art. Metal, as a specific musical style and subculture, has always been inspired by occult elements which it uses extensively both in its lyricism and aesthetics. The use of occult elements, which are sometimes perceived as controversial by the surrounding society, also raises public reaction and social discussions worldwide. At the same time, metal music (thanks to its transgressiveness) can also be perceived as a controversial art that sometimes goes on the edge of "acceptable" in its artistic expression. In particular, the conference will focus (although not exclusively) on 1) occult influences that can be observed in metal music, 2) how the occult elements are artistically grasped, interpreted and transformed, 3) as well as how their use provokes social reaction.
