| Description | The aim of my conference presentation is to examine how the implementation of gender equality concepts (in the field of family policy at an EU level) influences the freedom of an individual. Gender equality is conceptualized into three perspectives: (1) inclusion, (2) reversal, and (3) change. I defined freedom on the basis of the two concepts of liberty by philosopher Isaiah Berlin. I further developed these into four ways of freedom: negative freedom, positive-negative freedom, monistic positive liberty and pluralistic positive liberty. The individual concepts of gender equality are presented in the instruments of the harmonization of work and family introduced at the level of the European Union. |
