Description From the beginning of his governement the Grand Duke Ivan III considered himself a genuine Orthodox Tsar and protector of the Orthodox Church, which beagnn to percieve as an instrument of his foreign policy. A unique example of this conception became a marriage of Ivan´daugther Helena with Alexandr, The Grand Duke of Lithuania. The Orthodox Church as well as his own daugther served him as a means to enforce his interests of power and politics.
