Description The main objective of the book is to explore the degree to which the strategies that are adopted by relevant actors in these two policy fields in solving the problem of ‘care’ are mutually ‘compatible’ and how effective different strategies are in responding the increasing demand for care services. Book will be focused on the two areas of social services: child care and elder care. The strategies of the actors who are forming the policies in these fields will be assessed from the perspective of the households. In addition the book will examine how being pulled between work and care giving interact to affect well-being and how families are manoeuvring when affected by this squeeze affect – importantly in terms of gendered strategies.
