Description The goal of the paper is to demonstrate that the ablaut system of Vedic is formed by four ablaut grades (full, lengthened, reduced and reduced lengthened). The model used is based on the two-dimensional vector model of the Old Indo-Aryan ablaut; this model is then confronted with data from Old Indo-Aryan.
