Description Socio-economic changes at the turn of the 21st century meant major problems for many regions of the Czech Republic in the area of industrial restructuring. Limitations of primary processing of raw materials in traditional industrial regions (Ostrava – Karviná area, Podbeskydí, Foothills, Kladno, Rosicko-Oslavany) a strong focus on the "new" forms of industry (light electro-technical, high-technology, research and development in the automotive industry, etc.) brought appearance of a new phenomenon called brownfields. The occurrence of such a derelict industrial sites has a negative effect in the perception of urban design of the affected towns. The aim of the following study is to present of basic research of industrial change in the region of Oslavany. The city of Oslavany belongs to the traditional industrial cities, with economy based on mining industry (Rosice-Oslavany coal district), where industrial restructuring led to the expansion of large brownfields. In the post-industrial period at the end of all past mining and industrial activities, the brownfields are a significant obstacle for further development of the territory. This study tries to chart and to make a brief analysis of the new use of a large industrial complex in the eastern part of the city Oslavany. New development concepts adopted in the affected area can bring new opportunities for it‘s economic recovery.
